About Karen

My Practice

I came to psychotherapy after many years of writing about and teaching twentieth-century history at universities. This gave me a deep understanding of trauma and social context, which continue to inform my practice as a therapist.

I undertook a four-year training in Integrative Psychotherapy and gained a master’s degree from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. My research dissertation focused on intergenerational trauma. I am a fully accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), which demands a minimum of master’s level training for its members.

I work with adults from all walks of life, and of all ages. Many of my clients feel as though they don’t fit in to social norms; all are welcome.

I have worked for Mind, for a low-cost therapy service for adults, and for a service for survivors of sexual abuse and rape. In addition to my private clients, I offer short-term psychotherapy to people via an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

I have also worked with the inclusive intersectional therapy service Aashna+ in north London, and have taught final-year BSc counselling trainees at Metanoia.
